There are the following options in the "Discount Type" field:

Apply Coupon to an Order in the Point of Sale Section of Store Manager

In the POS section of Store Manager, starting from the updated versions, a coupon can be added directly during order creation.

In the lower part of the POS form there is an area for coupon adding. Press the button to open a list with all available coupons:

Choose one you need and it will be applied to the current order. You will see the totals of an order with the discount assigned to the chosen coupon. Take into account the price fields with tax and without tax - it varies depending on the discount you have applied.

The table with the discount values, as shown on the illustration below, is represented by the columns with the code name, discount and tax. The discount is an actual discount on the product based on its cost (price without tax).

The column "Tax" forms on a basis of the discount amount, which is applied to the order automatically.

"Product Total (Tax Exl)" is the difference between an actual price of the product (TAX exl) and the amount of the discount in the numeric equivalent.

The price with the discount, in our case (represented on the illustration above), will be equal to: 24-6=$18

If the product is taxable you can see the variations in the columns related to the Tax values as well.

If the data is configured properly, you can save an order and close the POS form simultaneously.

In the Orders list the newly-created order is shown with the coupon details, as well.
