2.2. Export Categories

In the "Category" section you have the possibility to transfer categories to a separate file by using the Export Wizard tool.

Follow these steps to perform the export process successfully:

1. Specify the file where your data will be located after export. If you want to update the existing file, make sure that it is acceptable and readable.

To verify the correctness of FTP details close the wizard and go to Preferences - > Database Connection - > FTP - > and press the [Test Connection] button. If you get the following message as shown on the illustration below, you are able to proceed with exporting:

The "Load configuration" field serves for uploading previously saved export configuration:

This significantly speeds up the passage of the steps of the export procedure.

There are steps of the export procedure listed on the left in the Wizard form. You can select the necessary step from this list or press the [Next] button to proceed.

2. On the next step of export select delimiter characters for fields data separation.

Be sure to check them to ensure proper configuration and accurate exporting of WooCommerce categories.

The resultant export file is usually generated for further processing, and subsequent reimporting, or import into another store, or application.

3. [Fields to export] - you should determine what categories fields you want to be exported. Choose necessary ones on the left and move them to the right with the corresponding buttons in the middle.

Expression - special formula that allows to add information, or change exporting data, based on the application of one, or more, logical rules, designate what action(s) should be performed on the field values that also may be determined by the evaluation of the expression. Use the [Help] button on the top for more details on expression special syntax with provided examples.

In case you want to customize exported data and use an SQL query to make the changes in the field's value, click the [Add extended expression field] button. This will call the "Custom SQL" form. Note: you need some SQL skills to create the correct formula in it.

4. The fourth step of export shows the following information:

In the "Advanced options" form, which appears, you can preview the basic export fields, which you should check and, if necessary, edit. And also to check multiple records separator - delimiter between multiple fields value.

You should specify the path on your computer to the categories images. Use the [...] button to open the drive system and choose the necessary location.

Click [Export] to start data transferring.

The resulting form shows summary results of the process.

You have an opportunity to save the current export configuration.

Click the [Finish] button to complete the export process and close the Wizard window.
