7.2. Export Attributes
To export attributes to a separate file of CSV format, use the option on the top toolbar. Open the "Attributes" section of Store Manager and press the [Export Data] button.
Or use the context menu to find the required command:
The export process will start from the page where you should specify the file name for your exported data and its location. Use the button with three dots to open the drive system on your computer and select the necessary direction.
If you want to rewrite the existing file make sure it is readable and openable. To check this, try to open and preview this file. In case you didn't specify the necessary filename, it will be created after export automatically.
You have the possibility to place attributes on the FTP server, provided that you have all necessary FTP access details.
Check the correctness of specified credentials by going to Settings -> Preferences -> FTP. The [Test connection] button helps to verify FTP connection.
In order to proceed with exporting you should get the following message:
In other cases, you need to contact with your hosting company to check FTP data.
In the FTP form specify the FTP directory for your source file. Press the browse button to open the FTP categories tree and find necessary location.
The "Load configuration" field allows to upload and use previously saved export configuration from the wizard list directly or from a separate file.
Press the arrow next to the [Open configuration] button to open the drop-down list and choose necessary configuration or click the [Open configuration] button to select desired configuration file.
< - Press "Delete configuration" to delete selected configuration, or select "Clear list" to clear the whole configuration list at once.
In the wizard form you have numbered steps of export procedure on the left. You can choose a necessary step there, or use the button that takes you to next step of Export.
2. On the following step of the Export process select delimiter characters for fields data separation. Be sure to check them to ensure proper configuration and accurate attributes exporting.
Use the following delimiter characters as comma (,), semicolon (;) and tab character ( ), however other symbols can be applied as well.
"Quote string values" - this specifies the character used to separate strings in the CSV file. It is recommended to leave this field checked.
3. The next option moves to the "Fields to export" step. You have to determine what attributes data you want to be exported.
Drag necessary ones in the left side and drop them to the right or use the appropriate buttons in the middle:
Move all fields from the right to the left pane at once (1)
Transfer only selected data from the left to the right side (2)
Move back the displaced fields from right to the left (3)
Reverse all displaced fields to their initial positions (4)
You can find the corresponding options in the context menu as well. Use the right-click on each pane of this step (left and right) to open the drop-down options list:
The context menu of the left pane:
The context menu of the right pane:
If you need to add a formula for merging columns, replacing/removing data or increasing/decreasing some values during the Export process, use the [Add simple expression field] button, which calls the "Expression Editor" form.
Expression - a special formula that allows to add additional information or facilitates the changing of exported data, based upon the application of one or more logical rules, designating what action(s) should be performed on the field values that also may be determined by the evaluation of the expression. Use the [Help] button on the top for more details on expression special syntax with provided examples.
To check if the specified formula works, press the [Execute Expression] button on the top. You should get the result without any errors in the separate window.
[Insert Database Field Value] helps to choose the corresponding database field values as components of expression formula.
In case you want to customize exported data and use an SQL formula to make changes in the field's value, click the "Add extended expression" field. You will call the Custom SQL form. Note: you need to have some SQL skills to create the correct and workable formula.
The "Field names in first row" option should be checked, if the first row of the .csv file contains such data as the column titles or column names:
See the example file provided below:
Otherwise this option can be unchecked.
The next step allows to select the records for exporting. You can export all attributes or just selected ones, depending on the checked position.
Open the advanced options fields after pressing the button on the right to check the value delimiters that will be used to separate fields data in the export file.
Also check the multiple records separator - delimiter - between multiple fields value.
Use the [Set Default] button to return the default values of these settings.
After pressing the [Export] button the process of data transferring from Store Manager to a file, which you have specified on the first step of the wizard, will start.
On the "Preview" step you should see the exported data with all configured separators between the fields values from the previous step.
There are the following options to determine what do you want to do when Export is finished:
To finish exporting and close the wizard, choose "Nothing"
To open the directory with your export file, choose the second action from the list
To check exported information in the file, select "Open result file"
In addition, save current export configuration to be able to use it in the future export process.
Specify configuration name in the appropriate field and press the [Save configuration] button - export settings will be saved in the wizard directly.
Press the arrow next to the current option and from the drop-down list choose "Save configuration to a file" - it will be saved separately.
To remove selected configuration from the wizard list or clear the whole list at once, use the following options from the same list:
Press [Finish (Page Down)] to complete the process and close the wizard.
